Weekend

On Saturday we went to BevMo followed by Smart and Final. They had grapes for 79c/lb. It was a great stop for produce prices, but everything else was pretty much the same as other grocery stores. BevMo can be overwhelming. Even Wyatt was in awe of the craft soda selection!

On Sunday Arlo and I went shopping. I needed some work clothes and more baby-proofing supplies. Wyatt and Mat went to Central Park again.

We got a few more boxes unpacked and a few things organized. We had so much more built-in storage in Richmond...it's hard finding a place for everything.

Wyatt is enjoying school. They have been doing a lot of reading to find out the student's reading levels. The hill in this picture often has cows grazing on it. A Realtor we met this weekend said that his friends thought he lived in the sticks because of all of the cows! I think it helps lessen the "burb" feel of the area. Wyatt says it's the Wild, Wild, West!

Breakfast

We picked up 1/2 dozen donuts from Dainty Donuts this morning.

In true Arlo fashion, he has a chunk of donut in each hand and is eating the crumbs directly off of the towel with his mouth.

Settling In

Monday was our first day back to school and work. After school Mat took the boys to Central Park. There is a new water feature and playground equipment. They had a blast. It is all part of the public park!

On Tuesday the movers delivered all of our boxes. We got the kitchen unpacked and put away, but that is about it. It is exhausting work. Arlo hasn't let Mat get much done while I have been at the office, so we'll be doing more unpacking this weekend.

We're Here

In the fashion of The Good Guys I am going to start in the present and then refer to the past, and keep going until we're at the end of the story.

We have landed in California and are in the process of settling in. Wyatt starts school tomorrow, and I start work-both situations are exciting, but Wyatt is understandably nervous. We have been keeping busy trying to set up home, and also playing tourists. The movers come Tuesday to deliver our stuff. Needless to say it will help to have our familiar things around us to help create a feeling of "home".

Today we visited Sutro Baths. We thought Wyatt would like seeing the Pacific Ocean. We were right. The stairs wore us all out. We'll have to come back for a proper exploration.

The school had a picnic to welcome the students back for the new school year. There was a DJ and the kids played and the parents mingled. It is a little hard being the new guys, but Wyatt enjoyed the playground and we found his classroom before we walked back home. The commute is .7 miles and is a great walk to start and end the school day.

A blue fish is his name plate. The teacher must know Wyatt!

The walk home. Verbena-lined sidewalks. I can certainly get used to this weather. 52 degrees this morning felt quite comfortable compared to the 105 we left behind in Virginia!
