Chasing Waves

This was from our day trip to Monterey, CA 11/13/2010

Catching Up

November started off with my birthday. The office surprised me with a cake which was great. Mat and the boys made me dinner and got more cake!

For Wyatt's birthday we headed south to Monterey, CA

We told Wyatt we were going to thrift stores. He bought it until we were at the door of the aquarium. We stood at the entry and I asked him if he was reading any of the signs...he said "yeah". I asked if he was sure, and told him we weren't going any further until he read the sign. I helped him with the Monterey part...then he figured out the Auarium part...and then the light bulb went off and we got the expression below:

We took a break and had lunch at this brewery.

A view of the bay from the auditorium portion of the aquarium's back entrance.

This tank had a lot of bigger fish including a seven gill shark.

The jelly fish were probably my favorite part.

We drove up the coast past several fields of strawberries and artichokes.

We stopped at a beach north of Santa Cruz to watch the sunset.

On the 17th we celebrated Wyatt's REAL birthday. Wow, 7.

Wyatt enthusiastically started his wrestling practice.

We enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving with our friends Wes and Kelli and their family and more friends!

Sadly we lost our wonderful friend, Richie. I know I'm not the only one thinking of him daily.

Nose Bullets

They may look like innocent peas....
...but when inserted into the nose and exhaled sharply they become fast moving projectiles. And apparently this isn't a new thing, but he's been less obvious! One more thing to be cautious of.
And one more star was finished.

I hope everyone has a safe yet scaaary Halloween!

Pumpkins and Words-

On Wednesday we took the boys to the pumpkin patch at the farmer's market by the Glass House.

When I got home from work on Thursday, Arlo was rockin' his new "cold shoulder" look.

I helped scoop out the pumpkin guts while Mat carved Wyatt's designs into the pumpkins.

SPOOOKY!

And Arlo continues to entertain.

Rain!

Saturday was the Fall Carnival at Wyatt's school.

There are benefits to a suburban school-a lot of grassy playground!

As you can tell, he had a terrible time!

Mat and Wyatt got home just in time to miss the rain. I think this was the first rain we've had since we moved to California.
On Sunday the rain continued. I picked up a few more pieces of fabric and was able to complete another star for Nolan's quilt. (The star is paper-pieced by machine)

Arlo had his first conscious umbrella experience.

The umbrella is just his size, literally.

Catch Up

I have been doing a terrible job of updating this blog. So here is a catch-up post.

On October 10 Mat and Wyatt took the BART to the city to check out the Blue Angles and Fleet Week.

They weren't the only ones!

I'm not sure what was the most fun. A ride in the subway, a trek through San Francisco, watching acrobatic airplanes from rooftops and crowded stairwells, hanging out with dear friends, or tacos in North Beach. All together they had a great day!

Arlo has been adding words...as of this posting he has "Wyatt", "Arlo", "shoe", "eyes", and "mama" and "dada". He also barks when he hears dogs bark! Now if only he could learn the valuable word, "please".
This past week Wyatt had early dismissal for parent/teacher conferences. (He had an EXCELLENT review). The boys enjoyed a splash at Central Park. It's odd to have this weather in October.

This past Sunday I took Wyatt to a classmate's birthday party at Pump It Up. The kids had a great time.

Arlo is still trying to walk in his Dad's shoes!

Lastly, I have started a project. This is part of a cowboy quilt for my nephew. Hopefully I continue to make progress.
